Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Couple’s Weekly Check-in (“the Service”), operated at weeklycheckin.app. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be published on this page and take effect upon publication. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

2. Service Description

Couple’s Weekly Check-in is a web application for couples with a free trial and optional paid subscription that enables the following:

• Conduct weekly relationship check-ins with thoughtful questions
• Share appreciations, discuss friction points, and express needs
• Receive AI-generated summaries and suggested agreements
• Track relationship patterns over time

Check-ins follow a weekly cycle (Monday to Sunday). One check-in can be completed per calendar week. A new check-in becomes available automatically at the start of the following week (Monday).

The availability of the Service is subject to our technical capabilities and cannot be guaranteed.

3. Free Trial and Subscription

Free Trial

Every couple receives a limited number of free check-ins at no cost. No payment information is required to start. The operator reserves the right to change the number of free check-ins at its discretion.

Subscription

After the free trial, continued use of the Service requires a paid yearly subscription at a price of EUR 23.99 per year. The subscription renews automatically for another year at the then-current price unless cancelled before the renewal date.

Payment Processing

Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. The operator does not store credit card details directly. Use of the payment provider is subject to their own terms and conditions.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Service. Upon cancellation, access to paid features continues until the end of the current billing period. After that, the limitations of the free trial apply.

Refunds

Refunds are handled in accordance with applicable law, including statutory withdrawal rights. For refund requests, please contact weeklycheckinapp@gmail.com.

Price Changes

The operator reserves the right to change subscription prices. Existing subscribers will be notified at least 30 days before a price change takes effect on their next renewal.

4. Account Registration and Security

The following requirements apply to the use of the Service:

• You must be at least 16 years old
• You must provide truthful and complete information during registration
• Email verification is required. Accounts may be created via the standard sign-up form (email + password), via Google sign-in, or by accepting a partner-invite link sent to the user's email address — in the last case, clicking the link verifies the email and creates the account without an initial password, and a password may be set later from account settings.
• Two-factor authentication is required for every sign-in with email and password. By default, we send you a single-use 6-digit code by email; you may optionally enrol an authenticator app (TOTP) in Settings. You are responsible for maintaining access to either your email account or the authenticator app you have enrolled.
• You are responsible for the security of your login credentials
• Accounts may not be shared with other persons
• Each account is intended for a single individual
• Each account can only participate in one couple space at a time. To join a different couple space, you must first leave your current one.
• Account names must be personal names. They may not contain URLs, phone numbers, currency amounts, or promotional content. We may reject or remove accounts whose name field appears to be automated, commercial, or spam content.

5. Communications

Transactional Emails

By creating an account, you agree to receive transactional emails necessary for the operation of the Service, including email verification, sign-in codes for two-factor authentication, check-in reminders, partner invitations, partner-invite follow-up reminders sent to inviters and invitees on a cadence of 1, 3 and 7 days then weekly through day 35 while a couple space is being set up, space-setup reminders during onboarding for users who have not yet created a couple space, and password reset emails. These emails cannot be opted out of while your account is active, as they are essential for the security and functioning of the Service.

Marketing Communications

During registration, you may opt in to receive marketing communications from us, including product updates, tips for using the Service, and occasional promotional emails. This consent is voluntary and is not a condition for using the Service.

You can update your marketing email preference at any time in your account Settings, or by using the unsubscribe link included in every marketing email. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

6. Partner Invitation and Shared Data

When you invite a partner, certain data is shared between you:

• Appreciations, friction points, needs, summaries, agreements, and memories are shared with your partner
• “Risk to watch” is NEVER shared with your partner – these entries always remain private
• Both partners can see each other’s name and email address
• Leaving the shared couple space ends the data sharing

7. Acceptable Use

When using the Service, the following is prohibited:

• Any unlawful use
• Manipulation of the system or its features
• Distribution of malware
• Automated data extraction (scraping)
• Disruption or impairment of the Service
• Identity fraud or impersonation of other persons
• Abusive, insulting, or harassing content in check-ins

8. AI-Generated Content

Summaries and agreement suggestions are generated using artificial intelligence (OpenAI). Please note:

• This content does not constitute professional relationship counseling
• The accuracy of AI-generated content cannot be guaranteed
• You should not rely solely on AI suggestions for relationship decisions

9. Intellectual Property

The design, features, and software of the Service are the property of the operator. You retain ownership of your check-in content.

By using the Service, you grant the operator a limited license to process and display your content in connection with providing the Service.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service uses the following third-party providers:

• OpenAI – for AI-generated summaries
• Resend – for email delivery
• Railway – for hosting
• Third-party payment provider – for payment processing
• Google Ireland Limited (Google Ads) – for measuring sign-ups that originate from a paid Google ad, only where you have consented via the banner shown on your first visit (see Privacy Policy section 4.4)

We assume no responsibility for the availability or performance of these third-party services.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” without any express or implied warranty. In particular, we make no guarantee regarding:

• The accuracy of AI-generated analyses and suggestions
• The uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service
• The suitability of the Service for a particular purpose

12. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the operator’s liability for indirect damages, consequential damages, lost profits, or data loss is excluded.

For users on the free trial, the operator’s total liability is limited to EUR 0. For paying subscribers, the operator’s total liability is limited to the subscription fees paid by the user in the 12 months preceding the claim.

This does not apply to damages arising from injury to life, body, or health, or to damages based on intentional or grossly negligent breach of duty.

13. Termination

Termination by the User

You may delete your account at any time via the settings. Account deletion is final and irreversible.

Termination by the Operator

The operator reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts in case of violations of these Terms of Service.

Effects of Termination

Upon termination, your access to the Service will end. Deletion of your data will be carried out in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Automatic Termination of Abandoned Accounts

To protect the privacy of everyone who registers and to comply with data-minimization requirements, we automatically delete abandoned accounts:

• Accounts whose email address has not been verified are deleted 7 days after registration. A reminder email is sent approximately 3 days before deletion.
• Verified accounts that have not created a couple space or joined one within 30 days of registration are deleted. A reminder email is sent approximately 15 days before deletion.

Automatic deletion is permanent and cascades to all data associated with the account. By creating an account, you agree to these deletion rules.

14. Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service or individual features at any time. Prior notice is not required.

15. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. For disputes arising from or in connection with these terms, the German courts shall have jurisdiction.

16. Severability Clause

If any provision of these Terms of Service is or becomes invalid or unenforceable, the validity of the remaining provisions shall not be affected. Invalid provisions shall be replaced by those that most closely approximate the economic purpose of the invalid provision.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the operator regarding the use of the Service.
